How many Clocks? (11 Comments)

Filed under: Fun — The Spider Herself @ 2:58 pm

Let’s have a mini-contest. Well, contest might be too strong of a word as I have no prizes to give out. This isn’t one of those high class/high volume/money making blogs. We be low class/minuscule volume/no money type blog. But we are all for having fun!

So… how many clocks did you have to “spring ahead” the other day? I, personally, did my watch on about Monday but the brave, intrepid Col. Panic reset our clocks Saturday night- all 11 of them (not counting my watch). Plus two that reset automatically. Although, the one he had to set outside in order to pick up the signal to reset it might not be totally “automatic”. His watch reset automatically. The computer did it all by itself. The number 11 includes the van but the clocks in the other vehicle has not be corrected.

The Col. is a stickler for time- it must be accurate. None of our clocks are set ahead… or behind, with the exception of the antique clock which keeps it’s own time. He sets clocks accurately based on GMT standards. Until a certain young lady messed with his watch, he had it set to GMT and he knew to add hours automatically. That would confuse my poor little brain, I’m afraid. I’d never know what time it was (let’s all break into song now! )

Anyway, I’m sure I had a point here, somewhere….

Oh, yeah- can you beat 11?

  1. Nope sorry can’t beat you, we only had 9 to reset! Even setting that many was plenty! HAHA

  2. Not here either. Even counting the computers and automatic resetting clocks I can’t beat you. Since I don’t where watches anymore, they are probably on correct time from 5 years or more ago of setting them correct (that is if they still tick). You are your Mother’s daughter 🙂

  3. Ouch!
The main distinction is that only 2 clocks here make NOISE! The antique schoolhouse clock and The Boy’s tractor clock. Unlike Mom’s house where you can’t hear yourself think on the hour when all the clocks are going off.

Besides, doesn’t everyone have a clock in the shower?

  4. Hee Hee… I thought that might pinch you a little. All in fun, Cus.

  5. Yes, that did get me! You know, I honestly hadn’t thought of that angle but it’s true. Mom would win hands down. Just from memory I can think of….15 at least and one that sets automatically (it was a gift from their eldest son- he wanted one clock in the house to be right.)
    🙂

  6. The problem is the clocks start going off at 10 before the hour and don’t finish until 10 after the hour at Mom’s. You can’t hear yourself think for 20 minutes… well, that’s what it seems like anyway.

I can’t beat you. I generally don’t bother resetting the clocks and just add an hour to what I see. But that gets confusing when other meddling people who like things precise actually go and set the clocks. Then I get all messed up. Spen can’t even stand to see seconds that haven’t ticked off of the microwave timer. He has to clear it when he goes by if I leave it like that.

  7. Hey, we would be at 11 actual clocks if the three that are not running because of lack of outlets and/or malfunction were running. I believe there are two in operation that are still un-re-set, though.

But how are we really counting? My 11 doesn’t count the computer or the two cell phones or the caller ID (they all do themselves) or the vehicles (which have been manually reset).

I can’t bear an un-cleared microwave display, either! That’s at least partly because it’s the only clock in the house that is on “real” time instead of advanced time.

  8. I didn’t count (but mentioned) the clocks that update themselves, like the computer. The Col. did his own counting and pointed out two I missed. He also had to update his PDA and pager manually and I didn’t count those either. One of the ones I missed was the phone which he had to do, not automatic. Plus he has two more watches that are set manually and I missed them too. I did count the one in the van but not the one in the other rigs that hadn’t been set yet. So… basically I missed quite a few. Adding in the phone, clock that I missed, two watches and PDA and pager we are up to 17- so we might just beat out Mom yet. 🙂

  9. Acknowledgment of a problem is half the battle… 🙂

  10. Oh you! Is there an anonymous group for clockaholics?

“Hello, my name is Mud and I am a clockaholic.”

  11. lol, why yes there is. They meet just across the hall from the Chocoholics but they have to share a room with the HAMaholics. The peoplephobes get the closet because there is always just one of them there.
